Contractor is a Mumbai-born Indian living in Nigeria since she was just seven years old. She knew a great deal about world cultures and traveling even at a very young age. She was a boarding student in London between seven and nine years of age, and then her family relocated towards Toronto, Canada, where she lived for the bulk of her early childhood and adulthood. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. Additionally, she excelled academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts - a specialized arts high school in which she studied not only dance, but also theatre. Contractor started acting at the age of 16, following nearly 10 years of dance. Upon graduating from high school she received a full-time scholarship to at the University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in theatre and a double major in sociology and psychology. Following a semester at the University, Contractor went to an open call audition for the show Pericles at the prestigious famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the leading role. The 92 productions she performed earned praise from Canadian critics. The actress accepted an invitation to join Stratford's conservatory, a program where only four men and eight females can attend the 20-week crash course of classical theater. Contractor got a place in the following season of shows and eventually landed the role of Hermia In A Midsummer Night's Dream.
